old marine brat

Hi I am interested in the history & experiences of wars. My father was a Marine through the Pacific in WW2 & Japan occupation & Korea - name a battle & he was there at some point it seems........
He remained in the Marines but was an early anti Viet Nam protestor (?) bcz as he said "it was a wrong war". I don't say this to irritate anyone but to say that understanding can flow through all sides bcz of humanity & families~~~~~
so that's my intro }}

Hi Everyone - Newbie/Child of Nam Vet

My father, LeRoy Olsen, was part of the US Marine Corp 1st Battalion in Nam. I have alot to share with everyone here growing up in a household where PTSD, Bipolar, and ALCOHOL played much of a part in our upbringing...The nightmares, the helicopters that scared him....and the stories my father was able to share until his death last year - massive heart attack....his anniversary of his death is coming up on May 2, and I MISS HIM TA DEATH!

I also began writing a book on him and other vets if anyone is interested in having their stories told publicly.

Please share! I have my father's story if any wants ta hear.....

I'm also an artist if any would like a realistic drawing of something special in their lives..

I also started a new tribe of Children of Vietnam Vets/War Veterans that might be of use to anyone...

I WROTE A STORY ABOUT MY DAD'S "NAM" EXPERIENCE (when I wuz a kid)

I can post it up on my blog if any is interested - I wrote it for a school newspaper when I was 12. My father cried as he told it to me, and it was scary as hell..........but as he told me things thereafter that point - (usually when he was drinking) - I became much more aware of all that really went on - his friends who were killed he had to carry...he was almost killed himself (bullets wizzing past his head).....omg...its a scary thought. If he was killed, me, my brother, or sister, wouldn't have had the chance - THE HONOR - to experience LIFE. My grandmother even gave him a St Christopher's medal (his mom) to protect him - and it worked.
